Terms of Service

These are the terms for using Nightjar, written to be actually read. Using Nightjar means you agree to them.

What Nightjar is — and isn't

Nightjar is a dream journal with AI-written reflections. It is not medical care, therapy, diagnosis, or advice of any kind — medical, psychological, legal, or financial. Interpretations are literary reflections on what you wrote; they don't predict the future and they aren't a substitute for a professional. If you're struggling, please reach a real person — in the US, call or text 988 any time.

Your account

You need to be 16 or older, keep your sign-in to yourself, and give us a real email so magic links can reach you. You're responsible for what happens under your account.

Your content

Your dreams belong to you. By saving them in Nightjar you give us only the limited license needed to operate the product — storing them, transcribing recordings, and sending text to our AI providers to generate titles, symbols, and readings (see the Privacy Policy for exactly who and how). We claim no other rights, and the license ends when you delete the content. Share cards are created only when you explicitly tap share.

Subscriptions & billing

• The free plan is free forever: unlimited journaling, three readings a month.
• Premium is billed by Stripe, monthly or annually, and renews automatically until you cancel.
• Cancel any time in Settings → Manage billing — it takes effect at the end of the paid period, and your journal is untouched. New signups include a 7-day full trial, no card required.
• If a payment fails repeatedly, Premium features pause until it's resolved; your dreams stay safe either way.
• Refunds: if something went wrong, email us within 14 days of a charge and we'll make it right.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service: no breaking in, scraping other people's data, reselling access, automating the AI features beyond normal use, or using Nightjar for anything illegal. We may rate-limit or suspend accounts that do.

Ending things

You can leave any time — export your journal, then delete your account in Settings; deletion is immediate and permanent. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, and we'll give you a chance to export unless the law prevents it.

The unavoidable legal part

Nightjar is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it reliable and your data safe, but we can't promise uninterrupted service or that AI-generated text will always be accurate or appropriate. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA.
